Insulation Blankets

Insulation Blankets are manufactured from thermal insulation and fire proofing materials into a flat, tubular and custom shapes of known thickness material which can be easily installed onto a selected surface. When selecting the appropriate material for an insulation application, material galvanic capabilities, temperature range, and installation requirements should be considered. Most engineering insulation materials will be associated with an industry specification for Temperature range, Thermal Conductivity, density, material galvanic capabilities, and so on.

Common insulation blanket materials and forms are:

Fiberglass pipe insulation - which is molded using a thermoset resins into a desired diameter and length. Fiberglass pipe insulation can withstand temperatures up to 1000 degree F.

Fiberglass insulation board and Blankets - are molded using thermoset resins into flat rigid and flexible sheets on known width and length. This shape is commonly used in both acoustic and thermal applications. Common installation are boilers, water heaters, HVAC ducts, wall and roof applications. Fiberglass insulation is available in a wide range of thickness, densities, and can withstand temperatures up to 1000 degrees F.

Styrofoam - Available in board, tubular, and custom molded shapes. Applications are limited to non-hydrocarbon environments. Working temperature -250/+165.

Cellular Glass - Has a working temperature of -450/+900, and is available in sheet, tubular, and custom shapes.

Ceramics - Can be brittle, is available in sheet and tubular, custom shapes are available. Working temperature +2300 degrees F.

Fashion Security Blanket

The idea of having a grown-up security blanket made me think about other fashion security blankets we all carry around with us. For me it's the belt. I'm crazy about the idea because it allows me to wear a belt without anyone knowing I'm wearing a belt. What?  It definitely has the practical application of holding your pants in place without throwing off your silhouette, but still, do I really need to wear a belt every single day? When I think about it, I really don't. I do have some pants that hold themselves up really nicely. I also like to wear long tops, which cover up any potential plumber's crack and therefore eliminate the necessity of wearing a practical, industrial, outfit ruining belt.

And that's when I realized it: my belt is my fashion security blanket. I just like the feeling of a lovely snug belt, wrapping around my hips, protecting my lower back from the breeze. It's like having a permanent hug attached to me, all day long. It's comforting. It's not serving any purpose; it can't hold up my pants (actually, it even weighs them down a bit) and it's no fashion accessory so really, there's absolutely no reason for me to wear it. And yet I continue, day after day, to wrap the thing around my hips and buckle it as though it were a seatbelt to protect me from the big, scary, car accident that is (at times) my life.

So this is my new resolution: I will try, hard as I can, not to wear a belt unless it is for fashion purposes or is absolutely needed to help me shield the world from the upper regions of my ultra-pale derriere. And, if I find that most of my pants do require this type of utilitarian accessorizing, I either need to buy myself smaller pants or buy an invisibelt.

The Latest Information on Photo Blankets

Photo blankets have already been available for personalization and customization gifts for many years. With changes in technologies and photo clarity, these personal renditions of life have grown and changed too.

Photo blankets are available in a variety of style, but how can we know what each style offers. Comparing photo blankets is a great way to decide which is best for your needs. Woven photo blankets are most often created from cotton or acrylic yarns. The images chosen for the blanket by the consumer appear as woven patterns. Taking an up close look at woven photo blankets, the consumer will notice individually colored yarns combined to make one large image. Similar to a woven rug, the end result is a clear image from afar, with a grainy result up close. Woven photo blankets are finished in one of two ways. The edges will either be left in a fringe edging, where the yarn pieces are hanging freely, or in a bound edging. The fringe edging may have a tendency to fray after numerous washings or heavy usage. The bound edging, on the other hand, leaves the woven blanket with a border of color, similar to a photo frame.

Knitted photo blankets are produced in a similar manner to woven photo blankets. While these blankets tend to use both cotton and acrylic yarns as well, the photo image remains woven, in this case, knitted directly into the fabric of the blanket. The knitting result feels just like a knitted sweater. Again, the far away look of the blanket produces an overall total photo, but when an up close look is taken, separate yarn pieces, knots and colors render the picture unrecognizable.

Photo blankets that are knitted also have a stretchy quality unlike their woven alternatives. The photo knitted into the blankets tend to blur and disfigure when stretched. After a period of time, the fabric will lose the ability to retract and the image with remain stretched and deformed.

A photo blanket creation that is not produced from a knitting or weaving process is picture blankets. These photo blankets take the photo image and reproduce the same image onto a blanket surface. The production process is similar to the printing process of a digital photo and the resulting blanket is just as clear. When the photo is dyed onto or into the fabric, there are not separations of color as with the knitted product. Only sharp photo lines and images both up close and far away. Unlike the woven and knitted photo blankets, picture photo blankets reproduce the image directly into the fabric. The colors are identically matched just as they would be with a digital photo print. Due to this difference in the manufacturing side of the blanket, there are no mistakes or color variances. The photo from which the blanket is created, is the same photo the blanket displays.

Black and white photo blankets are also available from the picture photo blanket process. Unlike the woven and knitted varieties, again, the picture is printed or dyed into the fabric using all of the colors present in the photo. If there are ten grays, ten grays are used in addition to the blacks and whites. The end product, when grays are used, tend to be clearer and display an increased depth of image. Another difference between the woven and knitted varieties and the picture photo blanket is the ability to render an almost dual use blanket. The picture photo blanket is backed with a solid color fabric of the customers choice. All three types of photo blanket creations are offered in various sizes.

Whether you decide on a weaving process, knitting process, or photo reproduction process, your memory will appear on your photo blanket. The only way to choose which photo blanket is right for your needs is to learn about them all.

Don’t take heads' comfort blankets

David Sassoon wants a stay of execution for the threatened threshold assessors.

Threshold payments are poised to be different in September. It likes that Cambridge Education Associates, who masterminded the process from its start four years ago, will be relegated to a minor role.

In the current round, threshold applicants had to complete a complex form in December 2003 demonstrating, with suitable evidence, that they had met eight rigorous standards. Heads had to decide whether standards were met using the application form, the head's own knowledge and that of senior staff.

CEA organised the applications in batches of five schools and farmed them out to the assessors. An assessor who wished to keep accreditation for this sort of work had to accept and work on at least one batch. If the head was in the first year of a first headship, the assessors had to visit the school. In other cases, they could check up on headteachers' judgments through distance verification, except where any processes used were suspect, questionable or iffy.

In such cases, the assessors would have to seek the permission of CEA's regional co-ordinators to visit the schools. Fees to the assessor for distance verification were, naturally, much lower than those for school visits; hence the need for permission, in case filthy lucre was the motivation.

All this is now to change, as assessors generally will no longer be required. However, a small group of will probably still be needed to deal with review cases, should teachers appeal against their heads' decision.

There are some headteachers - albeit a small minority - who allow personal peccadilloes to cloud their judgments. Occasionally, heads' pets on the staff secure the cream whether or not they merit it and hard-working, competent teachers who have aroused their ire fall foul of the system.

Heads feel secure when assessors cover them with blankets of validity confirming threshold decisions. They feel protected when the assessors authorise their decisions not to permit others to do so. They are relieved to be able to put the blame on outsiders.

I hope that someone in Sanctuary Buildings will take account of these issues before finalising the arrangements for threshold assessments in July.

Great Gift Ideas For A New Baby

Personalized gifts for babies are usually a welcome gesture. Custom picture frames are always appreciated and used for many years. Other personalized items which are great baby gifts are towels, toy boxes, diaper bags, baby blankets, and toys. You can even get personalized gift baskets that specifically cater to the interests of the new parents, such as their favorite football team, animal, cartoon character, or the theme of the nursery. If the newborn has siblings, it's easy to include a small gift for them too.

Newborn baby gift baskets are great baby shower gift ideas that can be filled with items that will come in handy from before the family comes home from the hospital. A newborn baby gift basket can contain such necessities as onesies, bibs, socks, hats, diapers, wipes, lotions, soaps, rattles, or any other little trinket you can think of that the new family will need and appreciate.

Organic baby gift baskets and arrangements contain an array of items made from 100% certified organic cotton, so the gift is safe and healthy for the new baby. The items included are often items like a hooded towel, washcloth, onesie, a bodysuit, leggings, socks, a bib, blanket and a plush toy. An arrangement, or bouquet, looks like a flower arrangement but includes items of clothing rolled into shapes that appear to be roses. Small items are used to make these "roses" such as a bib, a hat, socks, onesie, and a t-shirt.

Another really cute idea for a baby shower gift we've seen is to bring a diaper cake centerpiece! The "cake" is actually two layers of biodegradable chlorine free disposable diapers, an organic cotton stuffed animal, a container of cheek and lip balm, and a bar of natural and organic baby soap. No chemicals or synthetics are used to manufacture such items, so they are safe for the new baby and for the environment. By giving an organic baby gift basket full of organic cotton and other natural items, you are not only bringing joy, but you are also helping to do your part to protect our planet!

Knitted Baby Blankets - Personal Gifts That Are Useful

Buying baby gifts is not always easy especially when you know a baby already has everything he(she) needs.  Knitted baby blankets are versatile gifts which are also highly useful. Gifting a new parent with a blanket baby gift is something you know will come in very handy for many years to come.

Personalized baby blankets are also a nice touch especially if you are close with the new parents.  Most baby shower gifts are items of clothing and baby cleansing or feeding supplies.  Most people figure that the new mother and father have already selected and purchased blankets for their new baby but believe it or not, blankets are many times completely forgotten about until the baby arrives.  Items of clothing, supplies, and food take priority so many times a baby blanket gift is quite welcomed by the new parents.

When deciding which type of blanket to purchase, consider the climate in which the new baby will be living in.  Knitted blankets are not intended for warmer climates because they are typically made of wool which is intended to trap heat to keep the baby warm and snug.  Manufacturers of blankets for baby, whether knitted or not, only use materials that are safe and hypoallergenic.  A baby’s skin is sensitive and highly easy to allergic reactions or skin irritations.  Materials like 100% wool or cotton are made of natural fibers which are safer for baby.

Another consideration you should take when choosing baby blankets as gifts is color and size.  Blankets for newborns should not be too large because they can become tangled and it could pose a danger.  The colors should be stimulating but not extremely bright.  Soothing colors for baby fall in the pastel group but if you do wish to venture out of that zone, make sure the colors are easily found in other baby products of a nursery or in baby clothing because the new parents are likely to use it if it fits in well.  If you choose to knit a blanket on your own, be sure you share that information with the new parents because it will likely be of great meaning to them.

Since the babies grow fast, any number of clothes they have are growing to fall short.

If you are not satisfied with a single gift item you can also choose baby gift baskets. They are just lovely and ideal for any occasion be it birthday or baby shower. It is quite interesting that baby gifts are not necessarily meant for babies. You can also give it to the expecting parents to make them feel special. An expected parent will be surely happy to receive such a gift item that will always remind them of the little one.

A baby gift basket is usually full of various attractive and useful things. Some of the common items of the gift basket include baby sleeping bags, baby blankets, soft toys, musical toys, baby hats, baby pillows and many more. Many baby gift baskets are also consist of necessary items like teething toys, pacifiers, changing pads, baby night clothes and baby wipes.

The size of the baby gift basket varies according to the items it contains. You can choose big baskets as well as small baskets as per your budget. Gift items are designed in special ways to suit the needs of the new born babies or grown up babies. For people who really wish something practical and meaningful baby gift baskets are the ideal gift.

Baby gift baskets are often especially designed for expecting mothers. These baskets include things like night gown, skin products, spa treatment coupon, baby books etc. These especial gifts will surely pamper the expecting mother.

Baby gift baskets can be customized according to your requirements. Other than the common items you can also include CDs of lullaby songs. Baby gift products like this can make the gift baskets really interesting.

Blankets Application

The blanket is a key consumable, an intermediary between the graph on the plate and the ink on the paper. Blanket performance is critical to finished results. They have to be able to perform perfect in a demanding environment. Presses have become faster and the range of chemistry used is increasing, including new alternatives to alcohol.

Inks, too, can affect the choice of blanket. Printers must choose the right surface texture for the results they want. The adoption of compressible layers in blankets has also helped reduce smashes.

There are a number of layers to a blanket using fabric, rubber, compressible elements etc. The durability of a blanket varies greatly depending on application, maintenance and sometimes even plain luck but a guideline is one to three million impressions.

Blanket quality has improved over the years. To achieve optimum reproduction quality the printer wants minimum stretch. The tensioning of the blanket is important and there is a correct formula for optimum fit (width between bearers (mm) x 0.06 = the number of Newton metres required). Printers shouldn’t use overly aggressive wash up chemistry because this can destroy the surface of the blanket.

When buying a blanket the printer should look at its surface tension, surface roughness, compressibility, ink acceptance and ink transfer behaviour, tone value transfer characteristics, the setting/swelling, release behaviour, hardness and dimensional stability.

Blankets should be stored covered and rolled up in boxes or tubes or laid flat in cool, dark and dust-free conditions. Metal-edged blankets have adhesive tape around their corners, which should not be removed as it prevents the metal bars from scratching the blanket’s surface. Clean blankets thoroughly with warm water before first use.

To choose the right Seat Covers Saddle Blanket

Is not it ironic that saddle blanket seat covers are probably the greatest things a person in the car. We forget too easily, like the seats moved that the whole look of the car. They are an integral part of every truck. They hold their seats from harmful elements and safe from contamination. Besides that, a suitable seat cover will retain its original seat shape. There numerous blankets designed chair seat covers available on the market.

Many of them are made of fabrics like silk and cotton to avoid irritating the skin. For example, a baby seat cover provides some protection for the child, while the truck is en route. You can also comprises two separate washing and cleaning agents used in the washing machine on a range of materials for seat home.

Poly-cotton is the most commonly used to achieve a comfortable soft touch. It is soft to the touch, and provides protection for their endless seats. Sheepskin is the second most used material for seat covers. Sheepskin acts as a thermostat: It keeps the heat when it's cold and cool when they are protected hot. UV leaves another popular choice of material, so that the velvet seat covers.

As the saddle blanket is covered with poly-cotton seat, very soft to the touch. Seat covers of this type also prevent your seats out. Several use different types of upholstered seating. The first type is a universal car seat cover. These types of covers are universally adapted so that it almost every car seat, including high-back seats and in the context of other seats. The new seat cover custom made to fit. These are specifically designed for a vehicle of the brand, model and year. You are on the specific dimensions of each car's seat. Every detail of the seat of the car is about the time of completing the creation of custom down, because the specific dimensions of the truck ready for the facility is considered to be perfect.

A Warm Blanket and Smile

The winter is cold in the Midwest. So at this season we need to review the different ways to keep EMS patients warm. We run on a hundred thousand dollar truck, carrying half again that much in medical equipment, and yet often can’t find a warm blanket for our patients.

Emergency Rooms know the huge value of a warm blanket and a smile. These are the things that really make a difference to a sick patient. They are already scared and feeling terrible, being cold and sick too is a lot to ask. But on many ambulances today keeping patients warm is largely an afterthought. I suggest you take some of your ambulance blankets home, and next time you get a little chilly try them out. See what actually works and use the information to put a smile on somebody’s face today.

The cheapest blankets ambulances frequently use are the low-end disposables. Maybe the most well known is the old silver space blanket. These things do work, a little. But they blow around like crazy. Their best application may be as a blanket liner, to help keep your primary cover clean while enhancing performance. Their biggest advantage is the compact size, making them a top choice for emergency kits.

The next level up, so to speak is the old Cotton Blanket. Hospitals use these a lot, and as a direct result so do many ambulances. Hospitals like them because they launder pretty well, and with low capital costs and fairly durable construction are actually the cheapest way to go. We used to use these a lot in the old days, again as liners with our red wool winter blankets. The cheap 5-finger price and keeping the wool blanket clean had big advantages. This combination is also about one the cheapest combinations to keep people warm in real cold weather.

The next is of course is wool or wool-blend blankets. These are rugged, warm, and some can be used as a fire blanket. They really don’t wash well, so frequently cleaning is an issue. But boy do they work when it’s cold. Cot quilts are even a better choice. There are a few on the market, made especially for ambulance use. They lie under the cot mattress, and then fold around the patient. They secure around the patient with hook & loop fasteners, so you can access a limb. They work extremely well, and if you are in the Northern States you really need to have a look.

Another new type of blanket is the active heating disposables. These are something I think everybody should keep around for weather emergencies. They work rather mysteriously, combining oxygen, iron filings, and vermiculite inside a polypropylene cover. They work like those instant hand warmer that hunters like to use. When you open the package and let air hit the blanket, they heat up in about 10 minutes. They are pretty expensive for daily use, but really can be a lifesaver in a disaster big or small. They stay warm for up to 8 hours too. If you think there is even any chance of getting caught out all night in bad weather, these blankets are a must have.

One of my favorite new products from the EXPO this year is new Comfort Zone Blanket Warmer. The Comfort Zone is a durable hard case that contains and heats a standard blanket. You just leave it plugged into a DC outlet in the ambulance, to keep a blanket ready and warm all the time.

Your local weather, costs, and performance are all important considerations when choosing a blanket. Just please don’t make your patients suffer in cold weather. We need to be respectful and responsible when addressing the most basic care needs of our patients. A warm blanket and a smile are an important part of doing just that.
